... a "thank you"

... just a "thank you" to all the members on here... to Bruce... Dell... Soundguy... Jmor... GB in MT... and anyone else.... like Old Tanker and such...

Having been around 9n's my whole life, i see the literal "abuse" they can take... as I had said in other posts, my father mowed 75 acres with one for 30 yrs with a welded head and all... thing would be blowing steam constantly.... I wish I had you guys beack then (20 yrs ago)... I prolly could've fixed it.....

Any issues I have with my N's that I have now, rest assured... I can search the blog, and find the solution.... I have a MUCH better understanding of the hydraulics, and the basic operation of them.. This blog has already helped me fix a few issues that I would NOT have otherwise know how to deal with.....

Doesn't mean I won't have questions in the future... lol With some things, "logic" applies... with others, it is best to ask someone who has "done it already".... There are only "so many things" a book can tell you...
.. I love my N's... they really don't owe me a darned thing.... I will not part with them... even though I am looking to upgrade to a much newer Kubota or something... or a Ford 5000 ect... with a loader...
... Thanks again.... you all are a TREMENDOUS wealth of knowledge....

... of course, there are names I didn't mention here.. to list all the names would take a whole page....

Even though sometimes an argument starts, I read ALL the posts... they are ALL good advice.... owners of these machines typically get "attatched" to them.... They may not be the most "practical" tractors to have now adays.... given the advances in this day in age... but, there is "something" about an N....

I actually enjoy when someone plays "devil's advocate"... If I post something, I want to know what ANYONE has to say about it, or their thoughts... wether it "rubs" someone else the wrong way or not... ALL posts and comments are appreciated....

nice thing about this forum is that you can get info on just about any topic.

I was just having a theoretical physics talk with TOH a few pages back..

... I have noticed a few 'off N" topics on here.... seems like a good "community"..... I see this blog as one of the "benefits" of computer technology....

Well said gentleman! I think it is great to share a passion......face it we are a different breed.....love the old machines.....it is a link to a more simple time....there is a reason that
some of us.....namely "the forum", feel this way...old machines...tradition...just can't explain it.....a lot of my friends think I am nuts as they purchase new 4WD tractors.....They ask me....what are you thinking keeping that 8n and 861 running?.....Well, There will never be anything like raking hay on an old 8n......ever...I fly 737s for a living.....but my true love is a Stearman....I guess I can't really explain it....but you guys get it!!..I too appreciate the gentlemen on the forum...you are my kind of people...and I consider you guys my friends!

You're welcome. I'm glad to help.

Lots & lots of really good info on this board. I've fixed golf carts, well pumps, guns as well as tractors thanks to the expertise & folks willing to share it around here.

... Yeah there is.... I have learned more about N tractors in the last few weeks just by "reading" than many around me "think" they know... My 9n was at my fathers for 4 yrs.. he had a few 'so so' people tell him to 'do this and do that"... I think that is what ultimately burned up the whole electrical system on my 9n.... lol... running jumper wires to the coil and such.... bypassing resistor blocks and such, running to much voltage thru it... ect.. burned up points, distributor, condensor, coil, ect... lol
i still don't trust myself yet on messing with points... still reading up on that... The guy I gave it to to fix makes me wonder also.. yeah, he got it running... but, I am questioning the parts he put on it... the "quality" of parts... and heck... after reading on here the past few weeks, I bet I could've got the ole girl running myself... for half the cost...

These guys are a great bunch of guys to learn from on all sorts of topics. All may not agree all the time, but I think everyone respects each others opinions most of the time anyway. They have saved me alot of $$ on my 49 8N and I too read all posts. I am kinda in between now as I know the basics, but not near well enough to trust myself to give advise, so I just read and post an occasional muse. Good Post! Happy Tractoring, Bob

The only thing you have to watch out for is posters who have no hands on knowledge. They read a lot of forums and pass on bum info. The internally resisted coil is a good example. Its one thing to make a mistake at times. But to pass on BS that They see some where gets me going.

I have managed to do a lot of work on my tractor and revived it from a poor pile of metal under a pile of tarps with wheels 8 inches or more sunk into the ground which had been left there by my father in law at least 15 years ago to a working machine which I use regularly and runs great (well, final piece in the puzzle will be completed when my carb gets overhauled by GB) - and, all that has basically been due to the advice and encouragement from people on this forum!!!

I personally think the forum should sell T shirts with some of Dell's better quotes on it!!! 'No Argue!!!'
