Well I finally got the 2N running and drove it around the yard this afternoon. I mananged to change the PTO seal. The bearing was ok . I got it checked by a mechanic friend. The hydraulics are working as well. This will now give me some incentive to keep fixiing it up.
The brakes and sheet metal need attenion now. tracman

Just my opinion and experience---If brake shoes still have lots of lining, I"d consider cleaning and cleaning them with brake cleaner and re-use them..If they are oily, you need to fix the leaking seals--Sure seals have been on my Dad"s 2N for 45+ yrs and on my 2N for 7 yrs and had no problem..If you do use sure seals be sure to stuff the bearings all U can with grease because with sure seals the bearings will no longer get lube from the rear end....Even with all new parts, brakes on a 9N/2N will be very disappointing compared to brakes on other tractors.

Thanks for the tip. I think they are rusted up. There doesn't seem to be oil leaking around the hubs. But only time will tell. Who knows what the history is of this tractor. I like the cleaning idea.
