Carb. idled OK, but when it came to throttle up, and back down to idle, it was spittin' and sputterin', all over the throttle quadrant. OK, so I blew that, and had to take it off Hermie.
Tore it down again, and started checking the passages!!!! Second passage I checked......guess what...???.....carb was NOT as clean as I thought!!!!! Econo jet, can't do it's job, if it has a small piece of blasting media stuck in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND, I KNOW I checked that before putting it back together.!!!!! Yahootie, must have put that junk down there, after I checked it.!!!!!!!!!!!

Gary, Thanks for sharing this. Just goes to show we all can miss something now and then. easy to do. Much harder to admit to it.

Well, Gary you prove my point. If you didn't pay extreme attention to detail, you would not have found that little piece of chit in there. Testing the carbs before they get sent home is also just another example of the details!!

Welcome back Paul. Used to see you here years ago. I see Ncorrigable on the other board but never connected it to your old handle here.
I hope you are dointg well.

Hey Dog - I have been creeping over here from time to time. I love the Fords and have been on the sidelines of both boards for a long time. I dislike the forum split - as I know you do - but I understand it. I am restoring an 871 right now and hope to have it ready for the Pine Island tractor ride in August. My 8N and 850 can get me through if the 871 isn't done, but I have my hopes. If you or any of the other guys need info on the Pine Island ride shoot me an email - pmhaas'at'pitel.net. It is usually a 20 - 25 mile ride with plenty of opportunity for socializing.
