5' ford bush hog

Don"t know how old you are talking about but I do know the old ones are tough.. Went with my Dad 50 yrs ago to buy his 2N with a 5" Ford Bushhog..Still has it today and he has given it some toough treatment over 20+ acres for all these yrs..He has broken teeth in the gearbox and welded them up and it keeps on ticking for years and years after that..

What color is it? Probably blue. I've never seen a red Ford brush hog. Get the deck up far enough to turn the drive shaft over by hand.. Turn it over as hard/fast as you can. Listen for clunks, squeals or grinding. Better yet ask the seller to demonstrate it on his tractor. Check the oil in it before you use it. Even a low end 5' rotary will run probably run most of $7-800 new.
Ford brush mowers wearn't real heavy duty but were certainly adequate. 5' is exactly the size you want too.
Bush Hog® is a brand you know.
If you've ever owned one you'll scoff at all those Woods, Ford, King Kutter, Land Pride and Carroni's calling themselves bush hogs.

My Woods #5 has seen some pretty hard use with no problems. I sharpen the blades before using it each season. This is no trouble at all because the blades are easily removed through an access hole in the top deck. I don't understand why they're not all built like that.

No need to lift it up or crawl under it.

(quoted from post at 06:04:03 06/22/11) Any idea where to locate parts for the 5' red Ford Bush Hog??

At the 5' red Ford Bush Hog store???? Sorry......just could not pass that one up.

Best bet would be yer New Holland dealer. Even then they may be NLA.

Rick

I don"t but I bet if you put a new post on the forum where it will be at the top of the list, I bet someone will respond and be able to help..They are old and parts are scarce but there are some still out there.
