Just finished converting an IH M to 12 volt. I know the purest will say that's it's not a good conversion but several things led to it.
1. Compatibility, wife and daughter in law are helping out here on the farm and I don't like the idea of them having to understand and have to jump both 12 volt and 6 volt systems.
2. Cost of having the genny rebuilt and a new VR.
3. Old batt charger with boost for both 6&12 is about dead. Finding a new charger that is affordable that has 200 amp boost is getting expensive/hard.
4. Conversion allowed me to make the M grand kids safe!
Now they can't even crank it without the key!
