1948 Ford 8N Postive Battery Cable Location

I'm doing a functional fix on a 1948 Ford 8N. I've gotten along fairly well figuring most of the stuff out till now. I am installing battery cables and can find pictures etc for the negative cable to go to the ignition coil, but cannot find any real good references to where the positive goes except to the frame? There are screw holes everywhere that I could use, but I'd prefer to go to the regular spot. If anyone could submit a picture or link that shows exactly where the battery cable goes to ground at I'd be most appreciated! Thanks in advanced.

Phil

i'd forgo an intermediate location like the battery box, and head straight for a bolt going into that cast iron steering box.

you want functional.. that's a good spot to tie in to for a solid ground.

With newer Ford 8N's it seems like they do go to the steering box. as seen here:

but not sure how to do that with mine which is older like this

Phil.......the early 4-nipple 8N came 6-volt positive ground from the factory with a short 5" flat braid ground to the RUSTY sheetmetal battery tray. I recommend using a longer 10-11" flatbraid ground fed over the back of the RUSTY sheetmetal battery tray using one of the castiron steering gearbox attach bolts. Simple, eh?

You do know RUST is NOT a good GROUND, don't you?

The 4-nipple squarecan frontmount dizzy has only 1-attach wire fed thru the sparkie tube from the "infamous ballast resistor" on the back of the dashpanel from underneath the amp-meter. ALL squarecan ignition coils require the infamous ballast resistor. NO ARGUE!!! ......HTH, Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

YES I know rust and a ground are terrible. I can find photos for just about EVERYTHING 8N even 1948 8N.... but that braid cable or a picture of it going to ground is un-found. I am fine doing what you suggested I just wish people would post or direct me to a picture showing it. I really like being able to see something before I do it. But, going to the sheet metal battery tray and then having people move it all around makes sense.

OH and btw, I purchased the "infamous ballast resister" and installed a new one as I was told mine glows and needs replaced. I made the mistake of working on it, then going 2 weeks without doing anything and forgetting where the battery cable (which incidentally WASN'T a flat braided one obviously having been replaced) went. All I could remember is YEP that's a positive ground; I don't think it was on the sheet metal battery frame but I am not sure where they had it...I know it wasn't to a bolt on the steering box as both you and soundguy recommend.
