1948 early 8N steering problem-front wheels rip sod

When I'm out mowing, I notice that if I turn fully left or right, I get some ripping of the grass. I dont' remember this happening when I bought this 3 yrs ago, but have since had to put new bearings in the steering box.

I also cannot seem to eliminate the play-know about the left and right sector turning method...spindles are good...new drag links.

Any help is appreciated.

turning shart with tri ribs CAN cut grass.

if the sector bushings are wore to the point that you can't take backlash out by turning the round side covers.. then it's time for a rebuild.

all play is addative.. some backlash play, some draglink and tie rod play.. hubs, spindles.. etc.. etc.. it all adds up. only takes an 1/8" in each area to be a few inches of play at the wheels..

My 8n with tri ribs cuts up the sod when I turn really sharp. Not a lot of play in the front end either.

I think it is just the nature of the tire as I've heard similar on other forums.
