2N steering up date

I finely got the time to start on the steering problem a hive it apart. The steering sectors and pitman seem to be ok a lot of crud in there. The binding is in the steering shaft. I haven’t been able to get the second nut off to see what the bearings look like yet.
I thought I would pass on the up date and wish everyone a marry Christmas, Hope santa isn’t to hard on your wallet.

I will know next time to take the two nuts off the steering post before I remove the tower, so there is a way to hold the shaft while taking the nuts off

Larry, I don't know if this will help or not, but....

Back during my well pump days, one thing that I learned very well....
(You may have already tried it)

Is to not have your wrench handles that far apart.

See if you can put them on closer together and try it.

Somehow with them closer together you can get more leverage on them.

Hope that helps....

Amazing how much crap builds up in there. My 9N was about as full of junk as yours. The oil is just splashed up there. The tranny will be much cleaner for some reason. That must be the filter up there
Both ideas sound good. Since it is off. Put the wreches close enough together so you can squeeze both of the wrenches with 2 hands...Easy enough to put back on and try it to. 2 bolts will hold it. Since you have come this far pull the top of the tranny and clean all that crapout of there :!: Will save some wear and tare on the steering sectors.

Slip the steering wheel back on the shaft to give ya someting to hold it..

WARNING  all I know I read on the Internet,,, do it enuff and you can become a guru also,,, not responsible for damages,,, I read it and just pass it along,,, proceed with caution

You should have hollered!!!

I would have probably swapped you a half (maybe a little less) of a roll of 12ga stranded, nylon coated, that you could have crimped the Ell out of, for a front axel 8N clevis pin.

Each pay their own shippin'

When I start get'n in 10/12 wire (automotive use) I will melt a little tin/lead on the connection (after i crimp it) 10 for sure is a B-ich to crimp even with the good stuff,,, For sure if the alternator falls off I want the connection strong enuff to keep from losing the part,,,, I have broke the jaw on a good Mac crimp er get'n down on 10ga connectors...

I have some good tools for crimp'n (not pimp'n),,, 12/14 up and 8/0 down to 1/0,,, I need to find a good tool for 10/12 as its something I normally need...

I have seen good crimps and bad crimps,,, seen good solder joints and bad solder joints...

been thank'n I need a new hobby or girlfriend.... or take fish'n back up

I do think their one thang we can agree on

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he can sit in a boat and drink beer all day.... Hooray Beer!!!!!!!!

Whadya think Dunk? Lets start a new thread? "Hack or NO hack? revisited. partIII coming soon summer of 2010
