16" 9n Tire Manufacuter

Does anyone know what brand of tires (i.e. Ford, Firestone) etc. and tread style came on the 9n's equiped with the optional/dealer installed 16" front wheel?

Framer.......there was NEVER a 5-bolt wide-hub 16" 9N rim, ONLY 3x19 rim with 4x19 1-rib tire. The later 8N 6-bolt small hub front came with 4x19 rims (good for plowing) and DEALER OPTIONAL 5.5x16 rims good for FEL's. Many 9Ns had the 6-bolt 8N spindles installed for wider 6.00x16 3-rib loader tires. Not what you were looking for is it?

You want 16" tires on yer 9N, yer going to haffta do what the good ol'boys at NASCAR and hot-rodders do. Make'em. We've been UNABLE to find 5-bolt wide-hub 16" rims to fit; there is "speculation" that some of the 1937-38 Ford car 5-bolt wide-hub 16" rims might fit, but its unverifiable. .......Dell

i don t think 16" was a dealer option on the 9n but the older volkswagon rims will i have a set but i think they are 15" rims but they dont look stock but they work fine

[I realize that Ford and Firestone had a business relationship, however, some of my old tires actually say FORD on the sidewall while others are branded FIRESTONE. I was wondering if anyone has done any research with owners of tractors that are still know to have original tires to see if a sequence of VIN numbers had a verifiable patern of application, or if there is any =one who has archives pertaining to this topic.

Not after the 8N's. There were some built with B. F. Goodrich, I believe.

I can verify that '37/'38 Ford car rims do NOT fit 9N/2N hubs. What DOES work is a '37/'38 car rim on a '37/'38 car hub on a 9N/2N spindle.

Here is a 19" 9N rim and a 16" Ford car rim side-by-side on Ford car hubs:

These hubs came to me with the car rims on a 1944 2N. Notice that the car hubs look just like 9N/2N tractor hubs. But on closer inspection it is found that the car hub has a 10.5" bolt circle while the tractor rim has an 11.25" bolt circle.

Here is the car rim on a car hub....perfect fit:

And here is what happens when you try to put a tractor rim on a car hub. A similar discrepancy (in reverse) will be encountered if you try to put a car rim on a tractor hub.

Here is one man's solution. I don't have any idea where these hubs came from, but they look pretty tuff! And the car rims fit!

Bottom photo is of certain year Ford between 36-39. Not all had the holes like pictured but those years had same bolt pattern.

You both are wrong. Maybe you both need to read this post that is on the other board that proves there were 16" wheels made for the 9N and 2N by Kelsey Hayes for Ford and were available at the dealer as an option.

the ford script tires were made by firestone at henrys request. The 28 in 9n tires were made special for ford. Henry demanded they be made as light as possible to save cost. The 8n 28s were made heavier.

From center of the stud to the center of a nutter,,, but after look'n that's not the correct way to measure it,,, I spec you re correct
