1952 8n lacks power

Good morning all,

I have a side mount 1952 8n that has been giving me the Blues trying to get it back running right.

The carb (MS) has been rebuilt.....I can not get the tractor to reach any speed when under load. While sitting I can give it full throttle and it will run great...the minute I try to pull off in first gear it bogs down.

I have taken the fuel line apart, sediment bowl and other fuel related things.

I need some direction ..thanks I really enjoy this site.

howdy Neighbor......it aint'chur carb, ittz'chur sparkies.
Check yer 5-nipple firing order; 1,2,4,3 CCW. Usually sparkies 3&4 gitt swapped.

These N-Engines are sooooo gooood they will start and run on just 2-sparkies but won't have enny power just as you complain. ......Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

If you find the firing order correct, I would pull the plugs and see if maybe some of them are fouling out!

I agree with Dell. .that would be my first guess.. either wrong fire order.. or a fouled plug or two.. etc.

past that post back and let us know. less likly it will be fuel related.. though if not fire order / fouling issue, see if adding choke helps the situation..

Check the spark, the initial timing, the firing order, and the advance mechanism function. If they are per spec, then look to the carb mixture adjustments.

Good News...I put new plugs in Autolite 437,..gapped them at .025 and my tractor ran better than ever.

I am reluctant to mess with the carb adjustments just yet but I am 100 per cent better with the plugs !!

Thanks again everyone....justaneighbor :D
