Before we get much into this...

We need to clarify, if the clutch doesn't engage, or doesn't disengage the tranny.

I am suspecting from your post that it isn't disengaging.

There can be a few different causes of that, from rust, to the front tranny seal leaking rear end oil on the clutch plate, and swelling it.

you are correct it is not disengaging the transmission, looked in the original manual it says clutch pedal needs 3/4 inch free play before disengaging I will have to adjust again tomorrow, when I turned the tractor on tonight it ran but stepping on the clutch and trying to engage a gear from nuetral it grinds as soon as I try and go into a gear so I'm guessing it is not disengaging when the pedal is pressed

probably classic stuck clutch.

My naa stuck earlier this year after i had left it setting inthe barn for a couple years unused.

adjust pedal freeplay.. then block clutch for a day.. sometimes just setting they will pop loose. if nothing after a day, put trans in 4th gear and set brakes.. or stand on them.... setting on tractor.. keep ignition off, and gas off.. use a nail or pocket knife to short the wire on the start button to the trans top so that the starter will bump over.. just bump it.. and let of.. then bump, then let off.. after a few bumps she will likely pop free.. once free.. slip her a bit like taking off in 4th gear.

might want to plan on blocking her after that.. once a clutch stick.. they usually like to stick again if allowed to.

other unsticker possibilities are to block clutch, start in gear and drive in tight figure 8's in your pasture, and stand on the brake onthe outside of the turn.

can also block clutch, and put a load on the pto.. like a rotary mower leave trans in neutral and start her up a few times.. the load onthe pto is usually enough to pop them free.

post back if it still gives you problems.. there are other causes of stuck clutches that can't be broken free without a split unfortunately.. like if the disc comes apart.. etc..

thank you very much for the info gonna reset and block it today and give it a try tomorrow. it has a mower deck on the pto thought maybe the power takeoff was doing it but that is disengaged and grind when trying to engage yesterday as well I will get back to you on the success or failure tomorrow. thanks again
