12 volt wiring diagram

Can someone please post a wiring diagram for a 12v system? My N has been converted to 12v but I am unclear if it is wired properly. The coil is stamped 6v on the side and is not wired to a resistor. Also the tractor turns over with the key in any position. I have been told that the tractor started and ran fine 3 + years ago before Grandpa died. What do I need to check on to make sure the wiring is correct?

This is on a 1951 8N.

The starter switch should turn the engine over no matter the position of the key.

Brownie......iff'n yer roundcan ignition coil is stamped 6-volts and you don't have a 12-to-6v converting resistor (usually a HOT white ceramic block summwharr) then guess what? ain't no 12v conversion diagram gonna fix a DEAD 6-volt coil. We recommend using a real 12v roundcan ignition coil like the NAPA IC14-SB that uses NO RESISTOR EVER. Understand? ($15, cheap) Besides, the IC14 makes hotter sparkies than the original 6-volt roundcan coil. ......Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

Thanks guys. Plan to pick up a 12v coil this afternoon or this weekend from Napa. Still probably a week out before I try to start. Gary has my carb but it should be here by next weekend. That will give me time to get everything back together and cleaned up.

The early 9N's had a toggle switch and a push button start switch. The key switch is an alteration. Was the conversion done from a kit? Does a wire run from the light switch to one light and then to the second (series), using two original 6v lights? It sounds like your key switch is burnt shut across several terminals. You may want to check ohms between the various terminals to make sure though.
