1924 Fordson snowmobile

heck, i saw guys doing that kind of dancing, back in basic training camp, and when they got a pass to town! Some of the town girls seemed to have knowlege of that type of dancing! It was called: "jitterbug" dancing! Guys would practice with another guy--no hanky-panky-- just a chance to get some practice! (No girls in camp, ya know--and no funny stuff either--you'd of got yer head bashed in just for thinking that!)
As for the worm drive machines--they probably did well in deep snow country! but, i suppose some company bought out the idea, then shelved it, so their machines would sell, instead of the one shown! common practice, back then!

(quoted from post at 19:10:14 01/26/09) Probably a neat ride untill you fall off the seat! Hope you fall off backwards ant to the side!

It's no worse in that respect than anything with endless tracks, IMHO. The big operational disadvantage seems to be a lack of lateral traction, i.e., it tends to slide down a sidehill. Also, a track conversion is probably less trouble to switch in and out and uses a LOT less storage space when not in use.

Safety clearly wasn't the concern (some might say "obsession") in 1924 that it is today.
