I have been getting mixed answers on the paint color for a 1945 Ford 2N so I wanted to throw it out to the forum. It looks to be 100% Ford Dark Grey. Any other answers?

Check with others on this website but the rear wheels are silver and I think the seat and gen. and starter are black, there is a site that tells all the right colors for each component.

According to Peterson ("N Series Tractor ..." the gen and starter moter are also gray. Rims were originally cadmium or zinc plated.

Forgot, the seat and seat spring are also gray. Except for the tires, steering wheel, radiator and electical wires, everything is gray.

Mike,

Basically everything that is painted is painted Battleship Grey. The rear rims are cadnium silver (but most people just paint them silver.) My dad and I painted his 9N mostly grey but painted the starter, carb, and seat black for a little contrast. Also, we painted the exhaust high temp. silver. Of course, the 8N colors look prettier but are not correct for the 9N/2N. The paint we used was a few shades light but my dad already had it and we didn't like the dark grey very much. The grille was painted separately and is close to the original shade.

Personal preference is the key. My '45-2N was restored by a previous owner to the "Red/Grey" theme and it looks fine. I don't like the 'all grey deal', but it sure makes painting a heck of a lot easier (shade don't matter). Like 'Dell' -- 20' or 20mph.
