I had asked a couple of days ago about Mahindra Tractors and one of the replies mentioned a "new" 8N diesel. I thought he was joking, but another mentioned it as if he was serious. Are there plans for an 8N Diesel? Thanks.

G6....according to what I hear from New Holland....The 8n diesel is very, very possible.According to what I hear,N/H will be coming out with an 8n look alike, size, shape, color except it will be diesel with power steering in 2009.Seems N/H will be getting more involved with tractors in the near future. don b

Snookie.........that was a tongue'n'cheek semi-true remark by that great N-Parts guy, Don B.

In 1997, semi-local tractor importer vacuumed the N-Sheetmetal after market supply and was adding appropriately painted N-Hoods, grills, fenders to a 2-cyl diesel Korean? Japanese? Chinese? Indian? tractor chassis. I think he made and sold about 100 conversions.

Saw them at the winter Ag Show in Portland Ore. Cute little buggers with all the bells'n'whistles; live hydraulics, live PTO, rototiller gear, great FEL mid-point attach design 'stedda' jungle-gym FEL. I have never seen them again and he is outta-biddness .......Dell

Any thang can b made outta plastic these days,,, nuttin wares out any more,,, its plastic it justs breaks,,, I think I will stick with my old steel one,,, replacement plastic is 2 high,,, alto all the new whistles and bells do sound good,,, ya don't spec any of these cheap arse n folk to actually buy a new clone N do ya,,, he he,,, I werk on some imports,,, the craftsmanship is ratter good,,, warranty still shucks,,, they still are troubled by pizz poor engineering,,, even the Kubotas,,, a year are so ago I posted a repair on a bota trans,,, $4000 repair outch!,,, bota was aware of the problem but said they did not have any good will money,,, customer would have taken any thing,,, he got nuttin,,, not even a snow cone,,, reintroducing a model does represent tradition,,, shows theirs a following,,, I want one of them new He-me challengers my self

If and when the come out with one, I will have to take a look at it. I get a bit misty eyed when I think about the 6volt gas engine and the dead pto and hydraulics. I guess I have mixed feelings, but I certainly will be interested to look at them to see if I might buy one. I will cross that bridge when I come upon it.

While the Nostalgia Effect will be fun, a 'modern' 8N will have as much in common with our 50+ year old 8Ns as my 2000 New Beetle has with my 1962 Old Beetle - only the logo is the same...

However, if the price/value ratio is good, who knows? One may end up at my farm...

I saved a pic of that tractor back then & it's still on my old computer but it's packed away & may not even work anymore. I'll try to dig it out someday.

Found the pics...Diesel N Perkins P3

Dell...what I said was told to me by a N/H rep.I never seen one.I have no idea who or where they will be made. All I know is they told me they were getting back into the tractor business in more ways than one.Next year,2009 will be the 70th birthday of the 9n,which we will celebrate at our annual Ford/Fordson show in Wi.N/H plans to get involved in this special show, which they never have before.Maybe they will introduce the new 8n then, who knows. don b

Sean (TX),
I don't believe that is an 8N. Take a look at the pedals, rear axle, multiple transmission levers, and the PTO lever. Looks more like a later Ferguson or Massey-Ferguson with a few parts from an 8N, such as the hood, pasted on. I'm fairly certain Perkin diesels were used in later Ferguson and for sure in Massey-Ferguson tractors. So this probably is not much of a conversion at all, just a quicky 8N look-a-like hybrid.
