[b:5a79441497][i:5a79441497]Good morning..ALL.
Things have slowed to almost stop, due to the lumber yard being closed for the week end, and not being able to find a brace for the frame extention, as DELL mentioned in his prev. reply. I about croaked, when I found out how much a 2ft. piece of the 4" tubing would cost, so....I'm out scouting the area for a used piece that will fit. Or I may have to use angle iron in it's place, doubled up.
The hubs got cleaned up, primered, and newbearings, then painted, and installed. The frame is all primered, and painted. As soon as the lumber yard opens tomorrow, I can renew my work as far as cutting the floor to fit, and continue to look for a suitable brace.
Then I may get something done on the tote, so as to getting closer to being finished.
Here are a couple of "update pix for ya.

Looks good. Where did you price the metal at?I go to a scrap metal recycler...The also sell new metal....Square...angle iron you name it they got it....Price of metal is up...Dont look for metal at home depot or anyplace like it. They are a rip off.

Sean;
Price of metal is up!!!????? Tell me about it. The only place other than some welding places around close, is 55 mi. into Missoula, one way. Lets see......$3.96 per gal. gas plus price of the tube I need,.....NO WAY.!!!!
I've got some 3 1/2 " angle layin' around out there, and I'll just use that, if I can't find the tube I need locally. All I need is a piece 2' long, for added support to the back section of the frame. I'll fig. something out.
Can't find out what is goin' on with your compressor???? BUMMER!!!!!

Gary  [/i:ef9e3fa077][/b:ef9e3fa077]

I've got the perfect piece you need off an old tarp arm but that ain't doing us much good being 2240 miles apart!
But if worse comes to worse, it might be worth mailing it. Shame they ain't got a Flat Rate box for something that size.

Northern Tool, Home Depot, and TSC all sell a 14" X 24" piece of expanded metal such as might be used on a BBQ for a grill for $24 !!!
I couldn't believe it! I went down to Mueller Steel Bldgs and bought a 4'X8' sheet of the stuff for $22. I have no idea what I'll do with the other Fourteen Square feet of it, but it can lean up against my shop wall for years and the worst it'll do is remind me how much I saved.

Same thing for steel plate. 4'X10' of 10 ga. (about 3/16" - 7/32") steel plate was $90. The big box stores wanted $28 for 12" X 24" (that's two sq. ft.) of 1/8" plate. :!:

Update time.
Got a little farther to getting the tote done today.
Starting to look like what I had in mind, before I got going on it. Not the best in the world, but OK for my taste and what I'm going to use it for.
Once I get it finished and stained, I'll hook it up to Hermie and take a pic.
Enjoy. I had fun today!!!

Sorry Gary, "junk on the bunk" is a Marine Corps expression, not Navy. It refers to putting all of your 782 gear (field equipment) out on your rack for inspection. I am hoping to get a real close look at Hermie and the new tote when Laura & I come to visit.

Yep....looks a little diff. than when you saw just the frame. Sure wish we were not so far apart. Dan in CO. is comming up for a short visit around the 10 of Aug.. Wish you could make it up here. The cost would prob. give ya a stroke. And the price of gas here is $3.98 a gal.
You are just gonna have to move!!!!!!

Gary  [/i:0f3f606576][/b:0f3f606576]

We just came in from a sit in the hot tub. Beautiful night & sunset!

Jon:

We are going to see Gary in August and take a trip through glacier Park. In 1973 the wife & I went up there the last time & our first son was conceived while we were staying at Flathead Lake. It is time to do some reminiscing.

Sean; you ask..... Did you do all the welding?
Are you kidding me. I can't weld worth a darn. I took it to a friend of mine, after cutting two ft. off the back, and he welded it after I clean up the old welds with a grinder. A lot stronger that way. Safer too!!!!
