Did Ford make the same model tractor in 1947, but with a blue belly instead of red?

'47 would have been a 2N which would have come from the factory all Gray...darker than the hoods of the 8Ns. I have seen some crazy colors, and it's not hard to sand blast those cases down to the bare metal, but it did NOT come that way!

actually in 1962 they ran out of 2000 ford tractor so dealer had a bunch of old 8n tractor left and they paint them blue to match 2000 model color and sold the as 2000 model ...

I understand that as the later model blue tractors came out it was a dealer trick to try to make prospective buyers think the Ns were newer models. And I'm sure some folks who repainted them just like blue. My 2N is red and gray even though it is suppose to be all gray. Red and gray looks much better and it is not for show, it is for whatever I want to use it for and one of them things ain't to just look at.

My new addition is exactly like my other 8N except it's blue everywhere my old one is red. When I scratch on the blue there is no red underneath like it has been painted over, unless it was has been totally stripped down.

As others are telling you.. 8n's WERE NOT blue from the factory...

My 8N which has a serial no 180304 - so guess it is 1949? is painted blue over red....however, the old red paint job is better than the blue so gradually the blue is coming away and exposing the red. I think that the original color on these tractors and the restored ones looks great.
