Bought an 8n and loader from an estate, but it doesn't have a pump to run the loader. Does anyone know what pump I need and where I could find it? Thank You!

I make and sell a pump kit that will operate the loader and give you live hydraulics for the three point hitch at the same time.

Zane, how your pump compares to 8N original or Jubilee, in terms of flow rate @ ... psi ?
Thanks, Rlach

The pump I supply is approximately 3 gallons per minute. About the same as the belly pump. Can't use a faster pump because the exhaust valve on the belly pump will not pass more effeciently.

Plenty of volume to run a dearborn front end loader as the belly pump is rated about the same GPM as my pump and that is how there were usually supplied when the lift arms were tied down to direct the oil to the loader. Not a very good set up but usable.

Plenty of pressure from my pump. Up to about 3000 PSI when not used with a relief valve in the system. The belly pump relief valve is still in the circuit when my LIVE THANG is used through the lift system. The loader valve will have a relief valve encorporated in it.

I have a complete Dearborne loader & pump and rear brackets. The only thing missing is the front mounting bracket. I've just about decided that I won't be mounting it and would probably be interested in parting with it. I'm in MD.

Why don't I want it? I like that the N is small and maneuverable and fits in tight places - that comes in handy in my yard and the loader kinda takes that away. I keep the tractor in my garage, and with the loader it would take up a ton of space. My next-door neighbor and former owner of my N has a new Kubota w/loader that I can borrow if I ever need it, but I don't have much of any need for a loader. Finally, and this might be kinda silly, but I really don't like the way the N looks with a loader.

I would also like to know specifics about the front mount hydraulic pump used to run a loader or other hydraulics. Im looking for specifications like Makes, Models, GPM"s, rotation, shaft sizes. How do you know how much fluid you need in a reservoir?

Tweeter:

Last year I was lookiing for the same info you are. Here"s what I found for my MF-165 & for my 8N:

For the 8N I went w/ a Vickers"clone" vane pump offered by Attica Hydraulic. It has a 3/4" keyed shaft & puts out around 15gpm & 2000psi @ 2000rpm(if you want the exact model#, let me know & I"ll dig out the paperwork). You don"t have to have that much pump capacity for one of these loaders on the 8N, but I was thinking at the time I could use it on the 165(didn"t turn out that way). I chose this model after going thru all the Ford data I could find & talking w/ one of Attica"s pump engineer/inspectors.

For the 165 I found a used Denison vane pump on ebay. I took the chance because of the price & because vane pumps have replaceable cartridge & seal kits which are a fraction of the new pump cost. This one had a reversible cartridge, so rotation was not a problem. It has worked very well for me. It has a 7/8" splined shaft & is spec"d to put out 20gpm & 2500psi @ 1800rpm(as above I can dig up the model# if you want it).

I believe most industrial equipment today uses gear pumps, but I don"t think they tolerate trash in the oil as well as vane pumps do. They (industrials)have filters on both sides of the pump, I could only make room for a filter on the return side, so whatever comes out of my reservior goes thru the pump before it"s filtered.

My system capacity is about 5 gallons.

Depending on your tractor model & loader model, you"ll need a drilled/tapped crank pulley, hub, proper length drive shaft matched to the hub, & possibly a morflex coupler matched to the pump shaft & the drive shaft.

Jeff
