I have just finished rebuilding my steering box with new bushings, seals, and bearings. Although I marked most parts before removing so that I could put them back on in the exact location, I'm not so certain how to line up the sector gears before meshing in the steering column worm shaft. Is there an easy way to find the correct positions before re-installing the box on the tractor?

You just got top notch advice from Ken. Not sure that the fo-19 has a good section on the steering.. but the fo-4 does.. easy to see and understand... hang on.. let me look at my fo-19 manual....
Ok.. fo-19 has 3 pages devoted to the steering section.. has some exploded diagrams and pictures.. between that and kens advice I'd say you are all set., as that box looks very similar to the late 8n box. I rebuilt mine on my 52 8n and did exactly what ken said.. etc.

I do not know how much difference there is from my late model 8n, but the first thing is to center the ball nut on the worm shaft. Put the double sector in with blocked tooth up.The middle tooth on that sector must mesh with the middle groove of the ball nut rack. Now install the single sector, meshing the fourth tooth of of this shaft with the fourth groove in the left sector shaft that was put in first. The best way I figured my 8n, was to put it together, and put the steering wheel on, and turn it left and right. Then I could see how it worked, and understood why the nut had to be in the middle of the worm shaft, and why the sector gears had to mesh a certain way to get the full travel when turning left or right. make sure you have the shims on right, so not to put too much load on those new bearings when you tighten it down. Suggest you get the shop manual, if you don't have it.

Thanks to all for the advice. I've looked at the manuals for both the 8n and the Jubilee, but Ken's advice is going to help a lot.

One thing I did not do that I probably would do in hind sight, is put grease in the gearbox instead of the gear oil. It does not leak bad, but does a little. All I know is the thing almost feels like power steering since the rebuild.
