Steve 08-03-2001 21:10:30 64.12.104.182 Report to Moderator	I'm looking at an 8N that the woman wants $500 for. It is missing a carb. but everything else looks like it is there. The sheet metal is in great shape. The left rear seal is leaking badly, there is oil on the tire and the dip stick on the trans. looks bad. It's been stored inside for years. She says one of her sons rebuilt the enginge in ag shop about 30 years ago but I don't think it has been run since then. The engine oil looks good. The tires have no wear at all but they have been on the tractor for years. Does this sound like a good deal? [Reply]   [No Email]

You could be poisoned from the old oil and grease etc. Tell ya' what. Ask for permission to snoop around to see if you can uncover it. Offer her an extra $100 if you find it. I'm like everyone else, If you don't want it, I do! I'm in Northern Utah. If you want to spend the time to check it out thourghly ask if you can drain the trans and engine oil. Check for water because even though its been inside for years it might have spent 10 years outside collecting water and rusting the bearings and gears in the trans. The tires will be either ok or rotted out. No way to really tell until you get it running again. But there is a good chance they will be ok..If you decide not to pursue it pass it on here and maybe someone else is interested in it.
