I'm looking at an 8N that the woman wants $500 for. It is missing a carb. but everything else looks like it is there. The sheet metal is in great shape. The left rear seal is leaking badly, there is oil on the tire and the dip stick on the trans. looks bad. It's been stored inside for years. She says one of her sons rebuilt the enginge in ag shop about 30 years ago but I don't think it has been run since then. The engine oil looks good. The tires have no wear at all but they have been on the tractor for years. Does this sound like a good deal?

I see what they go for around here, working and non-working.

SImple answer- 'Yep'. Put a carb on it and a sure seal on the leaking wheel, a little TLC, and enjoy the easy 400% return on investment on sale.

Jim

I'll solve the whole problem for ya'...send me a private email as to the location and I'll meet you there with my special gloves on (and $500!) You'll sleep better knowing that this thing is safe way out in Montana....

Yes, buy it. The carb may be sitting in a box on a shelf somewhere, forgotten. Ask for permission to snoop around to see if you can uncover it. Offer her an extra $100 if you find it.

I'm like everyone else, If you don't want it, I do! I'm in Northern Utah. After you buy it, post again and let us know where you find it so most of us can feel better about not getting there first.

Over on the Ford board there's an illegal ad from someone trying to sell a 9N. Asking about $900. Phone numbers are in the ad.

as good as it gets. the sheetmetal is worth that. 50 years old and been resting for 30 heck it is only 20--better not let too many people find out about this one before you get it home.

Seems like a deal to me. The carb can be found used or a new one for 150 or so. If you want to spend the time to check it out thourghly ask if you can drain the trans and engine oil. Check for water because even though its been inside for years it might have spent 10 years outside collecting water and rusting the bearings and gears in the trans. The tires will be either ok or rotted out. No way to really tell until you get it running again. But there is a good chance they will be ok..If you decide not to pursue it pass it on here and maybe someone else is interested in it. I am in the Portland Oregon area so if its close to here let me know first(LOL)...Big Mike
