Hello everyone, I have a question but wanted to first thank you all for this AMAZING source of information. I purchased a small property last year and a nice to me 1952 8n was included in the purchase. Viewing this forum the past couple months as a guest has guided me through some troubleshooting and general maintenance as well as parts sourcing. Im new to being an Internet forum member, but I know Ill likely need to ask specific questions like this one in the future. Thanks to previous posts here, Id narrowed down a hot-stalling/no-restart issue to needing to replace the coil. I determined the old one is a 6v and there is an external resistor installed due to this having been converted to a 12v system with an alternator. However, when I got the replacement coil I purchased home, it is marked 6v - No external resistor required. I feel a little foolish asking this on here but...does this mean I need to remove the installed resistor and splice/rewire everything? Or do I need to try to source an original 6v coil without an internal resistor? Thanks much!

eturn the coil in exchange for"12volt, no external resistor required", which is NAPA IC14SB or whatever crosses to that NAPA number. Then remove or simply jumper across resistor, effectively removing it from circuit.
