Client wants to get an old 9N running and working on the farm... always helps to have another working tractor. It came with the property, hasn't run for 15 years. I did some preliminary work on it in 2017, new coil, fixed a radiator leak, cleaned out the carburetor bowl, but never had the time to officially try to get it running. I have it in my shop now, so on with the job.
I know the former owner who last ran it, said it was a good tractor, useful for hauling hay and other work.
Seems to be in recoverable condition:
1. The left brake is very weak, leaking goo out the drum.
2. The electrical system bad. Wires, switches all crummy.
3. Who knows what will show up when I formally get into it?
So, any basic references or guides in going over the ELECTRICAL system? I'll test the 6V generator, and if ok, I may keep the 6V system. Otherwise might go for the YT conversion for $105.
How much of a job is it to pull the left BRAKES and replace seal, clean or replace lining?
What else in general do y'all recommend when putting an oldie back to work?
