I bought a new pair of lower lift arms for my 9N, only to find when I went to hook 'em up that one of the slotted nuts on one of the lower pins was frozen up. When I turn the nut, the entire bolt turns in the mount. I expect the threads are messed up. I can always crack the nut and replace it, but Two questions...If it comes down to replacing the pin, is that as simple as removing the bracket and unscrewing the old pin? I see one bolt holding the bracket on.

Second, I looked in the online store and at Stevens AG in Lousiana and don't see lower link pins for the 9N. Can anyone recommend a source?

Yes, I'm going to break down and buy a service manual. Just as soon as I pay for my new bushhog.

Many thanks.

Mike..... .."When I turn the nut, the entire bolt turns"..... .this is a classic lower lift arm pin "gottcha". Unfortunately, the only cure/fix is removal of the axle trumpet and tightening the cotterkeyed castelated nut from inside the trumphet. This also means new gaskets...etc... sorry.

Please note that the 9N's lower pin is straight sided and the 8N's lower pin is a tapered fit. But both have castelated nuts and cotter keys. Torque to 150 ft/lbs..... ...Dell

Dell, thanks for the information. Its always great to know what you are getting into so that at least the expected parts are available, like the gaskets.

The grass is growing like crazy here and I need to be in the pastures and not under the 9N.

Ed, Thanks. The parts were more worrisome than the repair itself.
I'll give it a try.
