how to test the resistor block

I wired the 9n this morning. My test light showed power to the starter button, the amp gauge, light switch and the resistor block, but not to the terminal that goes to the coil. That terminal, on the resistor block, had rotated a small amount as I was putting the nut on the stud. I held the stud with a pliers and then tighten the jam nut. By putting a jumper across the two terminals I have power to the coil. How do I check the resistor to see if it needs to be replaced? It was my intention to attempt to start it today.

"How do I check the resistor to see if it needs to be replaced?"

You already have!

I guess I will replace it with the one that is on the 2n.
I thought that the one terminal that had the stud rotate might be able to be manipulated to be usable again.

Well, it sure wouldn't hurt to look at it and see with the bad connection can be cleaned up and made good again.

If original, likely it's a lot better quality than a new one from "The Land of Almost Right"!
