Hupp needs a Home...

Good day everyone - have had a Hupp Dual Drive (hi/lo) transmission in the back of the garage for going on ten years. Bought it from our own John Smith with the ill-conceived idea of modifying it for my TEA20. Decided I just can't bring myself to grind up a good case to fit and the old Ferg has more immediate needs anyway, so putting it back on the market.

I believe I paid $800 plus shipping back in the day. Anyone wanting to match that can use it proudly as God intended...in a Ford. He built a nice crate for shipping too.

Includes very detailed install instructions, shims, shifter and other misc parts. Bought it with confidence considering John's reputation so have no issues saying it's good. Pics of innards available at oakwoodsp<at>gmail<dotcom>

Is that the gear reduction
unit that slows the ground
speed down, but PTO stays
at 540 like it should for a
roto-tiller!?

No - it is the equivalent of a Sherman.

TOH

Yep - like TOH says. Pic over in photo ads. Probably more appropriate there anyway.

Thanks

As TOH said No. The Hupp sat in front of the main trans as did the sherman. What you need is a howard, everett, or even rarer ferguson reduction trans which sat be hide the main trans. The howard sat neatly in the rear center housing on the N tractor. The everett and ferguson units had their own case. Here's a Video on a howard showing it's location. If it wasn't for the shift lever on the round cover people wouldn't even know it's there.

That would be a Howard I think. Hump lowers and speeds up like a Sherman. Correct Police if Im wrong please correct me.

That's it - one speed above and below every gear you currently have - including reverse.

Quick question guys - have a local gent interested but but wants to know if the Hupp is compatible with the 9 and 2 N as well as the 8. Never thought about it. Anyone know?

Thx
