fuel shut off

Hi just wondering if there is a good quality sediment bowl/fuel shut off for a 9n Ford. I have one made by A&I products and it is poor quality.

I got mine from Just 8N's before I knew about this site. It works good, even with a cork gasket I had to make after the Leprechaun that hides in my garage stole the rubber one.

Our hosts her at YT sell a good one, I have one from here on each of my 8's. they work good.

Most all are made in Cheena -there may be good and there are CERTAINLY bad. You really don't need a whole new bulb assembly. The only wear part is the valve stem. There is a rubber seal on it that wears out over time and will cause leaking when it does. I recommend you apply a dab of threadlocking compound on the 8-32 screw to secure the knurled knob on so it doesn't loosen and fall off in the field. New valve stem = $5 ...new bulb assembly = $25

I've used several A&I fuel strainers. never had a problem. This site and others sell the same strainer as A&I just in a different package.

Is it leaking? If so, like I said just get a new valve stem. Also, the fuel line ports use a special thread, 7/16-24 UNS used on fuel and brake line fittings. IF you cross-thread or booger up the threads on the soft metal bulb, you will also have leaks. I once purchased a bulb assembly from TSC -many, many years ago and the 3/8-NPT thread that screws it into the gas tank was mucked-up by the manufacturer and ended up ruining my gas tank threads. That was the last thing I ever bought at TSC. The only reason you need to remove the bulb assembly is to clean the vertical fine mesh screen on the fuel inlet port on top of it. These screens were originally soldered on but most all these days are simply glued on. Caution while cleaning needs to be exercised. Blasting with compressed air may dislodge the screen altogether. I do not recommend using Teflon Tape on any of the fuel fittings. Use E-Threads by GASOILA ?it is a great product and works very well. If you have leaks, fix them correctly. Tape isn?t a fix. Do you want to be second guessing yourself every time you use the tractor? Leaking fuel is a major safety issue ?deal with it properly. Also, never use copper, nylon, or plastic fuel lines. Use the correct steel ?? fuel line with the correct fittings. DC makes an exact fit, pre-bent line. Finally, there?s no need to add another in-line filter. There are already 3 filters in the OEM system.
