Things are better

After reversing ammeter wires last week and making sure my battery had a good charge (all I did), my 8n fired up effortlessly today. Strange thing is, it even runs better and I haven't even changed the carb or
tuned it up yet. Just been concentrating on the 12v conversion. Maybe it just didn't run long enough when I first got it done. Ran it longer last weekend and there was little, if any battery drain. Feeling
like I may have a usable tractor soon!

I know where Florence is, their Little League All Star team put my team out of the state playoffs in 1974, we were projected to win it easily that year, tournament was played in Childersburg AL, we were winning 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Florence came back to tie us at 5-5 at end of sixth inning. We played till the ninth inning and a kid from Florence hit a homer over the centerfield fence to beat us 6-5, we were heart broken, our coach throwed our starting pitcher all nine innings, we were loaded with pitchers and our coach stuck with our starter, nine innings is too much for a 12 year old kid, but times were different then, we were tougher and played hard at everything, today a kid can only throw a limited number of pitches and has to come out. I?m from Andalusia AL

"Maybe it just didn't run long enough when I first got it done. Ran it longer last weekend and there was little, if any battery drain." How does the length of time running an engine matter to anything electrical or mechanical? You shouldn't be getting any battery drain if the wiring is all correct and the battery is good under load. 6V or 12V the charging system either is working or it isn't. Reversing the AMP GAUGE wires has nothing to do with it either. Is your 8N a front mount or angle mount? Many of us have CRS and don't keep track of everyone who posts here. Why don't you tell us exactly how it is wired up.

It's a '52 side mount, Tim. It seems that reversing the ammeter wires alleviated the battery drain. That's all I did. It held a full charge all week and cranked fine yesterday. Maybe it was a tractor gremlin......
