A question for Bruce or anyone

Bruce; concerning tip number 2 of 75. I packed my wheel bearings on my NAA and tried to install new seals, rubber side toward the spindle. But I can't get the bearing to seat. It's either loose on the spindle (the wheel has play when I rock it back and forth) or too tight. What am I doing wrong? If I put them in " backwards " then I can adjust the bearings just fine.

The Ford Front Wheel bearings, races, hub nuts, tab washer, and seals are all the same for 9N,2N,8N,and NAA models. If something is binding, I suspect it is assembled wrong.

Yes, the seals carry the same p/n for all models, but there are 2 different designs of that same seal . Or, he could have ordered or been sent the wrong seal.

I ordered them from this site. 2 ea. NCA1190A Ford seal front wheel hub. They sent me one NCA1190A and one S.60773 (replaces NCA1190A). They both looked alike. When I install them, how far am I supposed to drive them in? I drove one in until it seated against the bearing. I'm kind of thinking that might be the problem.

The hub should have a recess on it; that's as far as it needs to go. Remember, it's a dust seal, not a grease seal.

Thanks for the reply Bruce. It might be that it was up against the end of the recess not the bearing. I'll have to fool with it when it cools down around here. For now they are grease seals. :)
