Hupp Transmission Shifter

Hi All. I have an 8N with a hupp transmission. From what I see online of the shift pattern, the shift handle pulls out from the transmission case. Now I can move it up, down and horizontal but not sideways--not enough clearance between the pitman arm and the trans. case. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

The Hupp has 3 ranges. Put the lever in the middle position (neutral), move the handle outward and then up to be in the underdrive position. There is a manual on that other website.

Hi John. There's no room to move the lever out-it has a quarter inch before it hits the pitman arm (for steering).

Sounds like either the lever is bent or modified or the steering arm is bent. My e-mail is open. Send me your e-mail address and I will send some pictures that I just took and a short video.

whereswaldo ,Does your shifter have a round knob or does it have a flat end on the shifter. The round knob shifter is the Hupp Dual-Drive transmission, the flat handle is Hupp overdrive transmission.

Please excuse me, I don't mean to take over this thread:
I have an aux. trans, that I believe is a Hupp. Where can I find out more about it so I can tell folks I have it and don't need it.

I don?t know much about the HUPP but these may help. You can get these and the entire manual/service instructions over at the other N-SERIES TRACTOR web site for FREE download.

Thank you. Mine IS flat and I've NEVER seen this in any literature! I've had this nearly ten years and had seen the shift pattern but never knew there was a difference.
