9N hydraulic pump

I just rebuilt the top part of my 9n hydraulic system. I didn't plan on removing the pump, but I put a new control valve in, and it seemed to be binding. So I dropped it,
cleaned it good and inspected all the parts. My problem is now, getting it back in the tractor. The (new) relief valve is hanging up and I can't get the bolts to line
up. I would appreciate any advice on re-installing this pump.

If I remember right, I had to tilt one end up first, then the rest of the pump. Then slide it either forward are back, that's what I don't remember. Are you lifting by yourself? I used a floor jack to help manipulate it.

ront first, slide fwd, then rear up

I finally got it in. I used a floor jack.
that's quite a chore

Now, I trying to hook up the linkage on the control valve. If you, or anyone, has any tips, please post them.

Not much information on the internet, because it's almost impossible to record a video

Thanks, to all for your help............

Robert, was in the same pickle not so long ago myself. You'll get better at doing searches in this forum. Almost impossible that you will be doing something new.

Lot's of ways to skin this cat. The easiest way for a 1 man job is to cut a small piece of wood to insert between the forks wide enough to fit over the linkage. You've got to have both inspection plates off, and easier with the seat off so you can stick one arm in each side. Get one side on, hold it with one hand, then release the pce of wood closing the forks over the linkage. This job is done by feel and takes a little patience. Keep at it.

I hook up the control valve linkage by draining all the oil out of the lift and then driving it up on a couple of big wooden blocks. I use two cross ties then I look up through the drain hole and use a screwdriver to put the linkage onto the T thingy on the control linkage.

I pulled the RH inspection cover off, set the far side of the control fork in place to engage the ball, wrapped a rag around the fork leg on the RH side and pulled it with my right hand while guiding the ball into the socket. Worked fine.

Hobo also built a tool that has a hook on end so you can get some leverage on spreading the forks. That is the issue the forks are difficult to spread apart inside the housing. I'm sure the mechanics back in the 40's had a special tool to get this done.
