2N oil pan bolts

Can someone tell me what size the oil pan bolts should be on a 2N. I seem to possibly have more than one size. I also have one that seems to have oil leaking from around it or at least in the are of it when the engine is running especially. Does not appear to leak when not running. Will leak for a short while after the engine is shut off. Also looks like th oil pan must have been JB welded before I bought it. I've had it for quite awhile and it just started leaking last year. Nothing major more of a pain in the you know what.

Does it or did it have a loader on it, my FIL cracked the oil pan on his 2n trying to pull a large stump, a wagner loader will lift far more weight then the front end of the tractor ever should have on it. IT also broke the engine block right at the left front oil pan bolt hole so that he had to jury rig a bolt and nut to try to eliminate a leak and of course a new / used oil pan. The center axle was also bent from all the heavy lifting causing the front wheels to lean in on top I replaced that along with an new bushing and pin. You say you have different size bolts do you mean thread diameter or just the hex size or do you mean the length of the bolt, if larger thread size it sounds like someone stripped or damaged some bolt holes and had to drill and tap for 3/8-18 possibly. If you have longer bolts they may be bottoming out and not tightening.

Does the pan leak around where it was JB WELDED? Did you put new gaskets on? There are two, both different, p/n 8N-6710, R.H.; and 8N-6711, L.H. one on each side of the pan mounting surface. It's kind of hard to get them mixed up, but stranger things have happened. Look hard as there is a an oil drain port on the bottom of the pan and will have a cotter pin hanging out. That is to keep the port clear of debris and you will get some drainage out there after engine is shut down. It wouldn't be a FORD TRACTOR if there wasn't some oil leakage... ; > ) GRIN. As a Ford N-Series Tractor owner, you really should have the essential owner/operator/maintenance manuals. The oil pan, p/n 9N-6675, uses 5/16-18 x 7/8" hex head bolts with a 5/16 lockwasher, 16 each required. You said you have two different sizes. Do you mean different lengths, same nominal size and thread pitch or a completely different bolt size altogether like 1/2-13 or likewise? More bolts, same or otherwise means you missed something somewhere else. If you need new bolts, be aware that you won't find that length at your local ACE HARDWARE STORE or even TSC store. You can get them here -SEE LINK below.

I thought it was leaking around where the bolt is. Could be by the JB weld though. I'm going to clean the oil pan off and maybe even use some dye to pin point the area. Will post with what I find.
