49 8N Position Control Lever

Having issues with three point on 8N not staying in raised position. Have rebuilt pump and replaced relief valve on pump. Replaced piston which was leaking. Will raise to top of lift position then lift begins to lower. I can manipulate the position control lever and can get the left to raise to highest position, but position control lever is not in its correct position when this occurs. Any suggestions of what I can do to correct this issue?

Did you check or replace the cam follower pin when you had cover off? Adjust spring lengths as per manual? If gaining lift when pushing POSN/Draft lever beyond the normal draft position, then this is typical behavior when cam follower is worn & or springs mis adjusted.

Thanks for the reply. I will check the cam follower pin which I am sure is original to the tractor.

If and when that cam follower pin wears completely off the lift will go back to only "draft" no matter where the control lever is. That is if the
draft mode is within adjustment tolerances. If it is not you will have no lift at all.

Good luck with trying to adjust the lift on an 8N that is old enough to have worn the cam follower pin into or almost with the original instructions
such as in an FO manual etc. Those instructions were meant for a lift linkage in prestine condition. Not worn to a frazzle.

It takes something like my adjusting jig fixture so you have a solid point to adjust to.

Thanks for your comments. I may have to get in contact with you about the jig depending on what condition I find the cam follower pin in.
