Timing setup

Setting up the dist and plug wires on my 8N. When I built the engine I set the front piston at TDC and the timing pointer on the flywheel is correct. My question is where should the dist point and where should the rotor button point.

Number one plug wire.

ead and understand what the FO_4 is saying on page 59 paragraph 91 under R&R distributor.

If you have the engine 4 degrees before TDC on compression
stroke and the distributor somewhere near center of it's adjustment
range, it really doesn't matter which terminal of the distributor cap
the rotor button points to, as long as it points at one of them.
Put #1 plug wire in that terminal and wire them 1243 CCW from there.
If you want it to be correct as original, it should be the one pointed
toward the head bolt and marked #1 on the distributor cap.
Top left IIRC.
