8n freeze plug replacement

I've had fairly good luck drilling a small hole in the center and
using a slide hammer puller. When that fails, at least you have
a hole that you can use a small pry bar in to pry it out.
Be careful not to drill too deep. Just through the plug.
That assumes they are accessible of course. Some are not.
 
just take a ballpeen hammer and a piece of fine sandpaper and a flat blade screwdriver. put the screwdriver into the plug and tap it to rotate it clean the hole, flush the block, get your new one put some permatex in the hole onthe edge and on the plug, and then drive in square. I prefer to use a seal driver, but any tool that covers most of the plug will work. the domed flatish ones, sometimes you have to screw a sheet metal scre into and snatch out, but otherwise clean and seat and then give a tap to dimple and you are good to go.
 
The expansion plugs in the N engines are not the cup style. They are concave and go in the block up against a shoulder so they can't be rotated like the cup style. It is best to drill a hole in the center and use a punch or round pry bar in the hole to pop them out.

I'm well aware if the flat plugs, and mentioned them in the latter half of my post that you either didn't read or weren't able to understand. I've rarely ever had a problem poking the flat domed plugs with a screwdriver, if they were ready to replace. A very few required a sheet metal screw to get moving. Again, I mentioned that.
 

I did mine using a sheet metal screw, wood block and a claw hammer. Below are a few pics.
