8N lift fix

Had a man bring his 8N to me saying the lift didn't work and wanted me to put a "piston in it" I asked him why and he said the lift wouldn't raise
at all and someone told him that is what it needed. I asked him had the lift worked at all and he said no. He left it with me and drove off. I was
looking around at the tractor and saw that the PTO was not engaged so I put it in gear, cranked the tractor and the lift came right up. Put in under
the back bumper of my old Chevrolet truck and it raised it right up????

Called the man and told him he could come get his tractor and he said boy that was quick work. I told him why it wouldn't work and he began to
laugh. He had forgotten that the PTO had to be engaged. He bad brought me an NAA piston and gasket set with NAA rings so he gave them to me as
payment.

If it were me I would have told the guy the top cover was cracked and had to replace it along with a scored cylinder and pump parts and the bill comes to $793 just to see his face before I told him what was really wrong.I have done that a couple of time when using the hundred series tractor then jumping on the 2n but usually figure it out in a minute or so. kind of like driving the tractor twenty feet and the tractor stalls and won't start. Got to remember to turn the gas on.

Yep, sometimes it is the simple basic things that get overlooked. We've all done some stupid things. How about forgetting to open the fuel sediment bulb valve when starting up? Or forgetting to close the valve at shut down?

Great story Zane. I don't think you would ever make it in big business by being that honest.

Good for you.
