Does the fuel flow out of the carb bowl
that will fill a pint jar in under 2
minutes?

Does the spark jump 1/4" in open air?

See tip # 13.

What was the ambient temp?

Ethanol or non-ethanol gas?

Haven’t used it since Monday. Too much rain. It was 91 with temp index of 100. It’s 87 octane.

The 'gas boiling' and other issues on ethanol mixed gasoline debate will go on forever -may or may not be related. The N's had a few design flaws. One of them was the fuel tank vent hole. It is an often neglected item on the N fuel tank as it is located on the top, out of site, and not accessible unless the tank is removed from the hood. The small vent hole, between 1mm and 2mm in diameter is located centrally on the dome of the tank. It will get plugged up with dirt and debris and possibly cause a vacuum, restricting fuel flow, and if hot enough, could begin to boil. Think of it like this: Place a pan of water on a burner on your stove, cover tight with a lid, and set to HIGH. When the water reaches its boiling temperature, what happens? Overflowing due to boiling over. Removing the gas tank in order to clear the vent hole is not difficult, just a very time consuming job. The actual hole clearing operation probably takes 10 or 15 minutes max but its all the prep work that needs to be done first. I strongly suggest to first disconnect the battery and remove it completely. I also recommend that you have a buddy/helper assisting. I'll explain in a minute. The fuel tank is bolted to the hood. The tank must first be drained of all gas. Then the fuel line is disconnected from the sediment bulb. Removing the entire sediment bulb is optional so it doesn't get caught and bent or worse breaks off. If there are headlights, the original set up used special clips to secure the headlight wire to the gas tank lip/edge which needs to be removed. The doglegs are bolted to the hood and also need to be unfastened. The headlights are fastened to the doglegs. Removing them is your choice just to keep from getting damaged, but not causing any hindrance to pull the hood off. The hood is bolted to the dash/steering column. It must also be unfastened. Remove the radiator cap to now lift off the hood. Now, I first said to disconnect and remove the battery. My reason is so that when hood gets lifted it doesn't fall and make a short to the battery and thus cause damage you don't need. I did this once as I was lifting my 8N hood off by myself. Lessons learned. The gas tank is still fastened to the hood so it all comes off intact. Then the tank can be removed from the hood and vent hole cleared. Whew! That's a lot of work and no doubt why so many vents are plugged as fellers just didn't go thru all that. The fuel tank vent hole was a good idea, it was just not thought out well as how to easily access it as part of the tractor preventative maintenance program. A plugged vent hole can contribute to the fuel issues already mentioned. One final recommendation is to invest in a vented gas cap. Replace the OEM cap with a vented cap, which may or may not still be offered via a Ford Service Bulletin from your local CNH dealer. Archive search 'gas cap exchange' for details. If the program is no longer offered, or as some found out were told no longer applicable, when it was, just that the dealers didn't want to muck around with any exchanges, wanted you to actually buy one, then just go to Red Rock Mfg or other parts supplier and get one. Some guys just drill a hole in the OEM cap too. To me that isn't a good idea as dirt can easily enter the gas tank. Here is what the gas tank vent looks like:

Ordered a new vented gas cap hopefully that works as i dont have the time right now to go after unplugging the vent.
