pin that retains bendix on my 1952 ford 8N

I would like to have some extra pins used to retain the Bendix. Are these pins available as a separate part? They are part of a replacement Bendix. Looks like a 1/4 inch hole in end of the starter shaft. Maybe it would be possible to use a grade 5 or 8 1/4 inch bolt and cut to proper length.

To answer your question, I would try a 1/4 inch roll pin. But I have a question, why do you need extras? Are yours falling out or breaking? If so, something else is wrong.

Jim ,
Thanks for the reply. Last pin I made out of a solid
1/4 in bolt cut to size. Was going to use a spare bendix I had. Just used the pin that came with the new bendix. I keep spare parts for my tractors. Have a new bendix without the pin
Actually the tractor is a ford jubilee.
Tractors are in the San Juan?s and it helps to have spare parts
Made a mistake and put diesel in the jube
A backfire caused trouble with the starter, I think

He ejensen, thanks for the update. We all make mistakes, let's hope yours is a starter drive and not the ring gear.

Hi Jim
I looked through the starter hole and the ring gear looks good. You are right about mistakes are made. However I am 75 years old and definitely know better. Have a couple tractors that have diesel
engines. Have been using yellow plastic cans for diesel. Thought I was storing non eathanol gas in a yellow can until I could get another can.
Thanks for the reply. Tractor starts and runs good after I replaced the Bendix, and drained the fuel tank. used the pin from an extra Bendix I had.
