Gents, For the 15 or so years I've had my tractor I have had a seized sherman cable. The knob was all the way in. I finally got around to yanking the tractor apart enough to pull the steering gear and replace the cable. It works, did it all from the top. I am not sure if it is a step up or down. pto and ground speed are higher with the knob pulled out. Does this mean it is a step down and it has been
engaged all these years? The sherman is red, and my research says when the knob is in the sherman is engaged and out for normal.
Glad to have it all working whatever it is. Had to repair some farmer fixes along the way which I was not expecting but all in all I am happy I got it working.
It's on my '48 8N.
