I just wiped out my Dist, after replacing bushings. The weights iunder the plate are messed up. It looks like to me I either buy new dist. or can I go with electronic ignition. Don't know what parts would be used, if any with elec. ignition.

All the advance stuff behind the breaker plate is still needed with electronic ignition, unless you go to an exotic computerized EI that has a built-in spark advance.

You can buy the shaft and advance mechanism, but there have been some reports of certain ones not being made to OEM "specs", affecting timing and/or advance.

What does that mean exactly? Broke the base?

EI replaces the points and condenser. That's it. You need everything else in the distributor.

As Harold said, buy one off of eBay and have the bushings installed by a shop. If it needs a shaft & weights, you can get that here.

A new China distributor will not make you happy.
