Prrofmeter incorrect

I installed a new Proofmeter and cable from Yesterdays Tractor. The OEM manual says max rpm is 2200, but mine is much more that that, comes around all the way to the bottom of the gauge. What can cause the meter to be this far off?

What does it say at idle?

You have to have the right proof meter for your tractor.
For example, an 8N proof meter runs off the governor.
A Jubilee/NAA proof meter runs off the hydraulic pump.
They spin at different RPMs and will not interchange accurately.
Along the same lines, a proof meter for a 5 speed will not
be accurate on a four speed transmission or vice versa.

I bought it here at Yesterday Tractor, listed for an 8N. It appears to be the correct gauge, and is for a 4 speed same as my tractor. It is connected to the Governor.
Proofmeter Part Number 8N17360A1

8N proofmeter will have face notation "Hours at 1580 rpm", whereas the NAA will have "Hours at 1515 rpm". If NAA meter is installed on 8N, it will read high, at 1.56X actual.

You are correct, the one they sent me reads 1515. Yesterday's Tractor is telling me that both their 8N and NAA gauges read 1515, yet the picture on their website shows 1580, so I may have to purchase one elsewhere.

Proofmeter purchased from Yesterday's Tractors in April of last year for my 51 8N says "hours at 1580 RPM" above the hour meter. It reads correctly both hours and RPM.
