Select-O-Speed Issue

I had to disengage the transmission output shaft by flipping the lever on the left side of the transmission to tow my 1964 - 4000 just a few feet to get it out of the way after it stalled. I replaced the ignition points, etc. to get it running again. Now when I move the lever to reengage the the transmission output shaft, it does not engage and the tractor will not move under it's own power. Anybody had an issue like this or know the innards of this beast?

You will have to remove the six bolted side cover with the shifter in it and then you will see that you will have to slide the coupler back by hand so as to hook up the lever on the side cover. You slid it to far the first time.

Not uncommon.

You turned the traction disconnect to far.

Wayne, below, is correct. Twenty minutes and you will be on the road again.

Thanks Wayne. I guess I should not be surprised that it is possible to move it too far. That was fairly simple. I did not realize that the chamber where this sleeve is located has a different lubricant than either the transmission or the differential housing. I thought it was lubricated by either the transmission or more likely the differential since it is all the same casting. I was changing the transmission lube any way but now I will change the others as well. Not sure what to use in the chamber where this sleeve resides. For the differential, that smells like normal gear lube. Any suggestions on what to use for these? I have the FO20 manual and the SOS supplement manual but I don't see what type of lube is required, on the capacity.
