Can anybody answer this?

Did the 9Ns and 2Ns have timing marks on the flywheel even thought there is no hole
to see them to set timing. However maybe they did so that at the assembly factory
a worker could position the TDC at the correct location. I never looked or paid
any attention.Just curious.

no, they did not. Probably just used your B1
 
Ya-------just thinking if they did we could all drill a hole like the 8Ns have and
stop all this maddness of TDC locating.

ould always change the flywheel AND drill a hole. :)
 
Been a long time since I've heard the term, "B1" timing light. That is what we used in the AF back in 1955 to determine TDC on the 3350 CI and 4360 CI
radial engines on the B29 and B50 air refueling planes I was an engine mechanic on.
