Re: 2N Runs 30-60 Then Quits

JonV ,The top of the coil has to the 4 drive in rivets removed and the top removed, then all the old coil continence cleaned out of the coil housing. Not to bad of a job if it is one of the old tar filled coils.but a real pain if it is filled with resin or epoxy with out damaging the housing. I have used a drill and bits to help remove the stuff.

6V or 12V? Either way, you must maintain fan belt tension in order to have effective charging. A belt tensioning device must be in place, the correct belt used, and a fully charged battery are essential. Just as important is that whatever system you use, that it is wired correctly. 99.98% of all non-starting/non-running issues can be traced to incorrect wiring and incorrect components in the system.

Yeah, I read that somewhere during my search on the coil swap. Which made me think... I better find a correct wiring diagram before I do anything else, and sure enough. The strange part is, I've owned this tractor for quite some time. It ran okay before the "coil trouble", but now runs great. Guess you never know. Sometimes things causing more trouble than usual can be a blessing in disguise.

Thanks to all who helped!
