1950 8N Barn Find

Wish I could say I found it! Next best thing, my neighbor found it.

I didn't get an overall picture of it but here are some close-ups that
should show you the overall condition. It has been sitting in a lean-
to, under a tarp for the last 48 years. The lean-to had settled so
much they had to dig a trench for the tires to roll in to get one
fender to clear the rafters.

I feel compelled to donate a little time and maybe some parts
support if needed to its resurrection. I'm already lending some
of the knowledge we all share here on YT. Cylinders are currently
soaking in ATF for example. We have not tried to roll the engine
to see if it is free. We did put it in gear and roll the tractor using
the rear tires with the clutch depressed. After 48 years the clutch
is not stuck. Pretty impressive!

Original tool box still in place with the original tools in it.
Original swinging drawbar in excellent shape also include.
Best part? He got it for FREE!

Help would be welcome Jim, he has mechanical ability but is new
to the old tractor world. That's where we come in I guess. ;)

One of the original hat rims is beyond hope, the other might be
saved, not sure yet. Fronts are 19's. Rims will be fine. The tires,
probably goes without saying, but they'll need replacing.
I don't have a spare hat rim anymore so I'll be looking for him.

I have several solid "Hat" rims that I am willing to sell. Send me an e-mail and I will send pictures
with pricing. I am planning on being at the Ionia show. I will have several with me. I may have other
parts that he needs as well. Send me a list and I will see what I have.

Thanks John. Email on the way.
I can't make the Ionia show this year as I will be working in
Traverse City that weekend but maybe we can work something out.

The way I like to find them... The original paint on the tin was so bad you could blow it off with a pressure washer...

Cool find! Reminds me of when I bought an old 67 Dodge Charger back in 2000 that had sat in a garage or barn since 79. I was the 2nd owner, and almost nothing was messed with previously. That tractor was around a bit longer, but that's the way to find them. Should be a nice project.

Cool beans! Is it an early '50 with front mount dizzy? Sheet metal is straight albeit surface rust but setting for all those years helped keep it that way; look at that grille! I see one minor dent on RH fender, an easy fix. Also has original 8N accessories Grille Guard/Bumper straight as can be,; Tract-O-Lite headlights; Implement Lamp; and the Knoedler seat. This would be a great restoration project. Does it still have the genny & VR? I have the correct generators, 3-wire/3-brush for early 8Ns and 3-wire/2-brush for a later 8Ns -all for the front mount only.
