8N oil pump R&R

I recently saved a clean looking `52 8N from the scrap yard.

when I first got it running, I had no oil pressure...I changed the oil again, and primed the pump by squirting about half a yellow
mustard squeeze bottle of 80-90 wt gear oil in the oil line through the oil pressure gauge hole in the dash, then replaced the gauge, started the tractor, and had about 15 to 20 # pressure.at half throttle

after it sat a few weeks, I went out to use it, and again had no oil pressure.

I think I need to Have TOH rebuild my Pump.

what`s the best way to R&R the pump...My FO-4 just says to remove the front axle assy, and lower the pan...but I think there`s a lot more to it than that. anyone have any good suggestions???

I liked the video, and my only criticism is that I thought the brazing job on his new oil pump looked pretty bad.

Far be it from me to hijack the thread, but I have a question if you don't mind. Assume your 8N has sufficient oil pressure when it is cold, but it drops to zero when hot. How do you tell whether it is due to excessive bearing clearances or a bad oil pump?

Good question, Bill.

I`m wondering if maybe someone replaced the rings only in mine...The engine runs strong, and doesn`t smoke.

the problem may not be in my oil pump.

if the problem is with the pick-up tube leaking at the joint where the brazing is in the video, I`ll still have to drop the pan. I agree the brazing in the video didn`t look like a quality job.

Maybe someone else with the same issue, will jump in with some helpful hints.
