8n cuts out

Well this little tractor is about to get the best of me. Mowed with it the other day with a jumper wire across the OEM resistor and it ran fine. Put a new resistor on it today and it won't begin to run. Resistor is hot on both sides, is hot at the coil, has spark at the plus, although not real hot. Gas runs out the carb when choked, but plugs appear to be dry. Sprayed a little starting fluid in carb, did nothing. Any suggestions guys?

More info required dude. 6V positive ground or a 12V/negative ground switch job? EI added? What does ammeter show when running? Your wiring is most likely all jazzed up. Is the ballast resistor wired correctly per original schematic? The resistor will get hot -it is designed to, but if wired wrong can get really hot and burn up. Get out your F-04 manual and Operator's Manual to verify for starts. If you have a 12V job, you'll also need to get a correct wiring setup -goggle "WIRING PICTOGRAMS by JMOR". Even if you have a 6V battery, it does not mean the wiring is correct. Leave the guessing games for buying lottery tickets and whether the hot blonde will be going home with you tonight. Again reference manuals are valuable tools...
