Hi all,

Been awhile since I cruised these waters! My 1948 8N has NO oil pressure. I'm getting ready to drop the pan and get the oil pump rebuilt. Any opinions on where or who might be interested in doing the work?

Appreciate any & all feedback! Thanks!

I rebuild oil pumps but that may not be the cause of your total lack of oil pressure. What have you tried in the way of diagnostics?

(quoted from post at 09:50:57 05/25/18) Any self respecting machine shop can repair your oil pump.

I can tell you for a fact that self respect means nothing and many "self respecting shops" don't understand the geometry of this pump. This is not a gerotor pump which is what most shops deal with on a daily basis. I charge $25 and it will be right when you get it back - guaranteed or your money back and no questions asked.

I think I spent that much doing it myself! With your advise of course.
Mine was actually in good shape. I just needed to verify that fact.
But the seals, bearings, etc. while I had it apart cost money.
Plus the time I spent doing it. My time is worth something.

The $25 is labor - not parts. But if I do say so myself one of the better deals going.

I would agree. Parts, I assume, vary by what is needed.

TOH, I've been following this forum for quite awhile, and trust that you would do an outstanding quality rebuild. When I get around to pulling the pump, I'll send it off to you. Email me your address to [email protected] and let me know your pymt choices. Thanks to all for your comments!

After you get the oil pump rebuilt maybe you can tell us why it don't have oil pressure with a newly rebuilt pump..

What has lead you to rebuilding the pump...
