Inner oil seal removal

I am trying to replace the seals on my rear
axle of my 52 8n. Everything is cleaned up
and ready to reinstall except I cannot get
the inner seal out, it looks like it has
rust around the outside of it. Anybody got
a suggestion to loosen it?

A slide hammer with a seal hook on the end.

If it's rust, then try some PB Blaster after stuffing a rag in the opening. But it might be permatex or something, in which case you may have to apply a little heat to it.

Installed new ones in my 53 Jube. One took almost two hours to get out. Slide hammer, hooks, puhches. Finally was able to get hold of a piece of it with vise grips and still had to twist and rip pieces until it came out.

The other side original leather seal took five minutes.

coated inside of horn with RTV Blue for install and used a socket with extension for a driver with a piece of brass in the extension so didn't damage the extension.
