I am currently replacing the radiator on my 52 8n. I have the hood and gas tank off and want to do as much preventative maintenance as possible while it is off the tractor. I plan on replacing the plugs, plug wires, belt, radiator hoses. What else should I do before putting the hood back on?

Thermostat and check the water pump and generator/alternator
for wear/play. Also a good time to inspect linkages and gaskets.

Like Royse said god time to check thermostat and check the water pump and generator or alternator
for wear also check belt condition, radiator hoses flush and back flush radiator and block cooling system, check for rusty welch/freeze plugs for rust and leaks.Wiring condition, plugs and wires

Pull the radiator and have it cleaned and tested.

Inspect wiring, especially headlamp wiring.

If suspicious replace the water pump.

Bingo.

The point being, repair the OEM radiator rather than replace it with a poor quality aftermarket radiator.

what these guys said, plus take time to make sure you didnt get wires 3 and 4 on reversed, its real easy to do

Replace or clean the sediment bulb while the tank is off. My reserve does not work, I am guessing it's clogged but don;t want the take the hood and tank off just for that.
