Adjustable ignition resistor

Found this on a mutt (44-47 2N with 40 engine) I'm going to rewire (botched 12V conversion). Appears to be high wattage rheostat. Never seen anything like it used as ignition resistor:)

There was all sorts of them made for converting 6 Volt vehicles to 12 Volt.

One used for each accessory... heater fan, etc.

Probably still available from some of the old car restoration vendors.

NO reason it wouldn't work in the ignition circuit as long as it's resistance can be set high enough to drop the voltage enough used at that Amp draw.
 
Probably not. Don't see adjustment? Looks like an RU100 fixed 1.3 Ohm resistor to my eyes.
